It's a taut sequence, recalling the early scenes of Hitchcock's The Birds by using commonplace things for suspense. In A Quiet Place Part II, Krasinski briefly appears as Lee in a prologue/flashback, showing the first day of the monster invasion. It's not perfect, but this admirable horror sequel - impeccably, skillfully directed by John Krasinski - operates with meticulous use of sound and editing. The heroes must not only stay silent to avoid the monsters but also look out for a dangerous new breed of subhumans. Meanwhile, Evelyn realizes she needs medical supplies for Marcus and the baby and heads into town.
She secretly heads off by herself to find out more, and Evelyn pleads with Emmett to follow her. But Regan discovers a song, Bobby Darin's "By the Sea," playing on the radio and realizes that it's a clue - that there might yet be a safe place to go. The building's sole occupant, Emmett ( Cillian Murphy), tells them to go away and that he can't help them. Unfortunately, they walk into a trap, and Marcus' leg is snapped in a bear trap. Regan finds a signal, and they head toward an abandoned industrial building. Evelyn Abbott ( Emily Blunt), her daughter Regan ( Millicent Simmonds), son Marcus ( Noah Jupe), and new baby must leave the ruined family stronghold in search of new lodgings. However, due to frightening scenes involving children, I wouldn't let my kids watch it.A QUIET PLACE PART II starts by flashing back to the first day of the sound-seeking monster attacks before moving to Day 474, not long after the events of A Quiet Place.
Kiddy Warning: Obviously, you have control over your own children. The futuristic "quiet" world certainly breeds tough children! The ending is a bit abrupt, leading audiences to think another installment is in the works, so don't expect everything to be resolved just yet. Emily Blunt fans will be pleased, and the two kids get lots of opportunities to show off their screaming and crying. I was pretty excited to see Cillian Murphy (present in the flashback and the sequel), and those who like the mountain-man beard look will probably think he's just as sexy as ever. The "how and why" aren't answered, but seeing the when and where is very interesting. There's a fascinating flashback to the start of when the aliens first showed up, which I'm sure everyone would have loved to have seen during the first movie. She's faced with the impossible task of taking care of her two kids and newborn baby (good luck getting a baby to keep quiet) while on the run because their family home is no longer safe. Again written by, directed by, and featuring John Krasinski, his wife Emily Blunt is the star of the show.
#Quiet place part 2 movie#
The creepy aliens, who hear noises and then kill whoever is responsible, are a bit gross to look at, but this isn't the type of movie that will make you hide behind your pillow. Much more belonging to the thriller genre than horror, they rely on jump-scares and suspense of "will there or will there not be a scary scene coming up". Though horror movies are ones I tend to avoid, I made it through both A Quiet Place movies.
